EUNAP Holds South-East Sensitisation Session in Awka, Anambra State

Deepening Export Readiness and EU Market Awareness in Nigeria’s South-East

The EU–Nigeria Agribusiness Platform (EUNAP) has conducted a South-East regional sensitisation session in Awka, Anambra State, aimed at strengthening awareness of EU market opportunities and improving export readiness among Nigerian agribusiness stakeholders.

The sensitisation exercise, held on 27 November 2025 at the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Office, Awka, brought together exporters, agribusiness SMEs, farmer groups, and other sector actors from Anambra State and neighbouring areas.

The session introduced participants to the EUNAP platform and its role in connecting Nigerian agribusinesses to EU trade, investment, research, and innovation opportunities. Participants received practical guidance on EU market requirements, including quality standards, food safety expectations, and export documentation processes.

Officers from the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Awka Office, delivered a technical presentation focused on export standards and compliance, providing participants with clarity on regulatory expectations for accessing EU markets.

Key value chains that generated strong interest during the engagement included palm oilcassava-based productsspicesvegetables, and speciality food products. A number of exporters and SMEs were onboarded onto the EUNAP platform during the session, reinforcing its role as a practical gateway for market access support.

The Awka sensitisation forms part of EUNAP’s broader regional outreach strategy. Further engagements across other South-East states and regions are planned for the first quarter of the coming year, as the platform continues to expand its national footprint.
