The Platform for Agricultural Risk Management (PARM) is a global initiative based in Rome, Italy, hosted by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Established in 2013, PARM works to integrate agricultural risk management (ARM) strategies into national policies and investment programs in developing countries. The initiative is co-financed by international partners including the European Commission, Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), French Development Agency (AFD), German Development Bank (KfW), and IFAD itself.
PARM focuses on enhancing the resilience and productivity of smallholder farmers by assessing risks (such as climate, market, and pests), identifying management tools, building local capacities, and promoting investment-ready projects. Operating mainly in Sub-Saharan Africa, PARM collaborates with governments, development agencies, and private-sector actors to strengthen national systems for managing agricultural risks and improving food security.
