The National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN), founded in 1994 and based in Ikeja, Lagos, is a non-profit organization regulating and promoting Nigeria’s cashew industry. Registered as an Incorporated Trustee with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), NCAN represents farmers, traders, processors, and exporters, aiming to ensure sustainable cashew production and position Nigeria as a global leader in premium cashew products. Its core activities include facilitating cashew exports (contributing N284.5 billion from 2015–2017), enhancing market access, advocating for policies to address challenges like foreign encroachment and low local processing (5% of cashews), and promoting value-added products. NCAN collaborates with government bodies, international partners (e.g., Vietnam Cashew Association, African Cashew Alliance), and employs over one million people, with women comprising 70% of the workforce.
