The Yola Modern Abattoir, located in Yola—the capital of Adamawa State—is a central meat processing facility owned and managed by the Adamawa State Government. It plays a vital role in supplying meat to Yola and surrounding areas by processing cattle, goats, and sheep. The abattoir supports local markets and contributes significantly to the state’s agro-processing sector. Despite its importance, the facility faces challenges such as outdated equipment, inadequate infrastructure, and environmental concerns related to waste management.

To address these issues, the Adamawa State Government has announced plans to build an ultra-modern abattoir with a capacity to slaughter up to 2,000 cattle daily. This new development, supported by international partners including investors from Malaysia, aims to improve meat processing standards, boost local employment, and expand market reach both locally and internationally. Efforts are also underway to rehabilitate veterinary clinics associated with the abattoir to ensure healthy meat production and enhance public health safety.
