Draft, pending legal review. This text is a starting point written by the EU-Nigeria Agribusiness Platform team. It has not been approved by a lawyer yet.
Who is responsible for your data
The EU-Nigeria Agribusiness Platform decides how the personal data you give for this event is used. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and, for participants in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What we collect
- Contact details: your name, job title, email address, phone number and the language you want to hear from us in.
- Organisation details: organisation name, country, address, website, sector and the kind of organisation it is.
- Profile answers: what you offer, what you are looking for, your partnership objectives, and the answers to the event's own questions.
- Your photo and your organisation logo, where you upload them.
- Documents you upload, such as a company profile, a product catalogue or a pitch deck.
- Travel and visa details where you attend in person and need a letter.
- Payment details for a paid package: the reference, the amount and when it was paid. We do not hold your card number.
- A record of the consents you gave, with the date, the version of the page you accepted and the IP address the answer came from.
Why we use it
- To run the event: confirm your place, send you joining details, print badges, manage check-in and run the sessions.
- To match you with other participants and to build the meeting schedule.
- To prepare invitation and visa support letters for the embassy where you attend in person.
- To take and reconcile payment for a paid package.
- To answer your questions and to tell you about changes to the event.
- To report on the event to our partners and funders, using figures and summaries rather than your personal details.
We rely on your consent for the listing choices and for promotional use of your organisation name and logo. For everything needed to run the event itself, we rely on performing our agreement with you and on our legitimate interest in running the programme.
Who we share it with
- Other participants, to the extent your listing choices allow. If you asked to be in the participant directory, participants at this event see your name, organisation, country and profile answers. Your email address and phone number are not shown on your profile.
- EU and Nigerian partners who co-organise or fund the event, for attendance reporting and for matchmaking with their members.
- Service providers who work for us under contract: hosting and cloud storage, email and SMS delivery, payment processing, the event venue and, for an online session, the video platform.
- Embassies and visa authorities, only where you asked for a visa support letter.
- Public authorities, where the law requires it.
We never sell your data. Some of these providers are outside Nigeria or outside the EU. Where that happens we use providers with an adequate level of protection or a contract that covers the transfer.
How long we keep it
We keep your participant record for three years after the event, so you can sign back in, pick up contacts you made and register for the next edition. We keep payment and accounting records for the period tax law requires, currently six years. We keep the record of your consents for as long as we hold the data it covers, plus three years, because it is the proof that we asked you. After that we delete your details or reduce them to figures that cannot identify you.
Your rights
Under the NDPA and the GDPR you can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your data, where we do not have to keep it;
- stop or limit a particular use, including an objection to it;
- send your data to you or to someone else in a usable file;
- withdraw a consent you gave, at any time. Withdrawing it does not undo what we did before you withdrew it.
You can change your listing choices and the promotional permission yourself, from your profile in the event workspace. For anything else, write to info@eungagribusiness.com and we will answer within 30 days.
Organisation names and logos in promotion
The EU-Nigeria Agribusiness Platform uses an organisation name or logo in material that promotes this or a future platform event only where that organisation's representative gave us the separate permission for it, at registration or later from the profile. You can withdraw that permission at any time and we stop using it in new material.
Keeping it safe
Access to participant data is limited to the staff who need it. Connections to the platform are encrypted, and uploads are held in access-controlled storage.
Complaints
Write to us first at info@eungagribusiness.com. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) or, in the European Union, to your national data protection authority.
Changes to this notice
If we change this notice, the page shows a new version. Where the change matters, we ask you to accept it again the next time you sign in.
